LIFESTYLES: For seniors that require some assistance with activities of daily living but wish to live as independently as possible and DO NOT require skilled medical care. Best for the person too frail to live at home alone but does not require constant skilled care. This housing option bridges the gap between independent living and skilled nursing facility.
SERVICES: Designed to provide a special combination of personalized care, supportive services, and health related services. Residents are encouraged to function as independently as possible with some assist from staff. 24 hour/ day supportive service is available. The amount of healthcare provided varies widely and the healthcare offered id not as intensive as in skilled nursing.
Most facilities offer:
- meals
- transportation
- laundry
- housekeeping
- assist with ADL’s (bathing, dressing, ambulation, monitoring meds)
HOUSING: Assisted living facilities come in all sizes from single family homes with only a few residents, to large communities with over 100 beds.
PAYMENT: They are not reimbursed by Medi-Cal. In some cases, arrangements can be made to use monthly SSI payments as reimbursement. Private fees range from $1000- $6000/month
