LIFESTYLES: For individuals already disabled to the point of requiring daily nursing care as well as other supportive services. Provide continuous nursing services under an R.N. or an L.V.N . to those recently hospitalized or have complex physical or cognitive conditions for a temporary or a long-term stay.
Ideal for those requiring:
- Full assist with personal care
- Non-ambulatory or require a device
- Bedridden or unable to reposition in bed
- Advanced dementia, combative, or severely confused
- Requires tube feeding or an IV
- Needs aggressive wound care
- Terminally ill/ Hospice care
SERVICES: Assistance with all activities of daily living ( bathing, dressing, eating, toileting). SNF’s are required to provide recreational activities. Some offer special units for dementia with trained staff.
Offers rehabilitation therapy:
- physical
- occupational
- speech
- respiratory
- extensive 24 hour skilled nursing care
PAYMENT: Typically very costly. Varies from $3000-$6000/ month.
Medi-Care will pay for up to 150 days of skilled nursing care per year.
Some accept Medi- Cal reimbursement.
