Energy Assistance Programs


 

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM
Delivers energy conservation services to low income Californians.
Reduces the heating and cooling costs for low income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and insuring their health and safety.
The program focuses on the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and families with children.
People who rent their home must get written permission from their landlord before weatherization services can be performed.

LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSITANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)

A federally funded program to help low income households meet their heating and/or cooling needs.

This program may pay a portion of the energy bills of eligible low income person.

CALIFORNIA ALTERNATE RATES FOR ENERGY (CARE)
This program gives to eligible customers a 20% discount on their electric and natural gas bills.
Customers dependent on life support equipment or with special heating or cooling needs may be eligible.

LOS ANGELES DEPT. OF WATER AND POWER
Offers rate reduction of the cost of electricity, water, and sewage for eligible low income homes.
Offers Senior Citizen Lifeline Rate to low income persons.
Offers Life Support Device Discount for those with essential life-support units powered by electricity or water.
Offers a discount to persons with paraplegia, quadriplegia, and multiple sclerosis.
